baby mama.

well, i'm officially pregnant!
14.5 weeks.
no longer sick, getting a little belly, getting excited

check out the progression:

the night we found out...

(we told my parents, but don't have pictures... it's on video!)

telling matt's parents...

how we told matt's family...

telling my grandparents...

telling facebook...

oh, this is going to be fun!

my promises as a now-publicized pregnant person:
1. i will share funny things that happen along the way.
2. i will not share anything gross. no shmanks.
3. i'm not going to pretend that words like "mucus plug" and "breast pump" are normal or not funny.
4. when i get weird looking and huge, i'm not going to care. join me.

earth day 2012!

so, i thought this year for earth day, i needed to play it up.
i love the earth.
i got 5 copies of this book--Ready, Freddy--Save the Earth.

in it, it lists 10 things that they do to save the earth.  if they do all ten, they are part of the "green team."

i am reading this book with my a reading group that has some difficulties at times (it's more or less at their instructional level--i know, it's exciting stuff.)

i had them present the information to the rest of the class and i typed up the ten things for them to do at home over the weekend, as our Earth Day challenge.
all but one student completed the challenge and earned their place on the "Green team."  I made Earth Day 2012 necklaces for everyone who got it.

they were so excited, they wore them all day and spent the whole recess picking up trash.
it was adorable.

so then, i was reading one of my favorite blogs, and she's selling a unit doing the EXACT SAME THING.
i think i have finally arrived.
i'm officially a real-life teacher.

i'm so proud.
i know Jesus wants me to be humble.
so give me a moment.

check out her blog on it (she's awesome, by the way)

scones and more.

happy spring break to me!
what have I been up to?
-grad school homework.
-lesson planning.
-watching friends.

sounds a lot like normal life, eh?
with some extras: hanging out with friends and family, napping whenever I want, and baking!

i made scones.
check them out!
i used a recipe from here.
only i didn't use vanilla beans, because they're expensive--3 teaspoons in place of the beans in the scones, and about 1.5 teaspoons in the glaze.
also: next time i'll use more powdered sugar to make the glaze thicker... live and learn, right?

 seriously delicious.

another thing.
for matt's birthday, i made steaks. but my favorite part?
quick-made twice baked potatoes.
they were beautiful!

and bruschetta.

happy spring break!
