operation: love the days that we have left.

i started something in class today.
called operation: love the days that we have left.
(nice name, right?)

basically, i'm nostalgic.
and not looking forward to letting go of these great students.
so, i'm allowing myself to really cherish these last few weeks... and each day, i'll randomly say "operation!" and we'll stop learning for a few and do something fun and memorable.

today's activity?
outdoor math.
jumprope counting (by 2's, 5's, 10's, 100's, odd numbers, etc.)
partner sidewalk chalk double (and triple) digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.

also today: our puppet show for the parents.

(that's our stage and some of the puppets, but i feel like it's creepy to have their up close faces on here...)
the students decorated the letters for the "stage"

oh, and here's a picture of the baby chicks we just hatched!

joy to the world.

coming tomorrow for operation: teacher is getting nostalgic and wants to just have fun...
math problem solving scavenger hunt all over the school!

the one where my brother graduated.

it was a big weekend for this family.
off to taylor we went!
with more than a little excitement... all to see this kid graduate.
from college.
so less of a kid and more of just a grown up brother.

check out some pictures of it all:
 where we got engaged.
 polar pop excitement!

 dc love.
 new science building?!
 there it is.
 and there he is!
 the original four.
 well look at us.

 with cousin josh.
the two kids expanded to three! (plus a grandkid...)

i love taylor.
and my brother.
and having a brother with a degree.
from taylor.
the best of both worlds.

the life i lead.

well, this has been my life lately:
 picnics with little kids.
road trips with high schoolers. in crazy nice vans.
12 junior girls making dinner for 14.
 my first yogohut experience.
wearing our new small group tshirt.
16 weeks pregnant.
smartboard usage with 6 and 7 year olds. pure joy.
(yep, those are complicated fractions...ish. no big deal.)
bailey missing matt while he's gone.

my improvisation when all our bowls are in the dishwasher.
matt's not too fond of this situation.

welcome to my life.
